Welcome to 2023. Our world continues to navigate the deleterious effects caused by climate change, navigating one of the worst winters in recent memory. The constant ringing of alarm bells may indicate there is little hope in sight. However, with the many ever-present challenges to our public’s health come solutions and people dedicated to aiding those in need.
Public health is critical for our success as a global community and plays a critical role in designing prevention strategies and support systems to protect everyone’s health and wellbeing.
Our first responders and public health professionals use technology, community networks, and a host of partners to coordinate response efforts, save lives and restore communities. For example, emerging technologies like facial recognition software and secure data sharing are allowing first responders to reunite families separated by disaster and aid in identifying victims of natural disasters more accurately. And advances in physical body marking recognition technology is equipping responders and partners with mobile assets that can match existing records of scars, tattoos, and piercings to positively identify individuals who are lost and reunite them with their loved ones.
As 2023 gets underway, informing and engaging our communities at all levels will play a critical role in future emergency response efforts. Information sharing and training to coordinate response efforts among stakeholders will continue to be mission critical to restore communities and save lives.
Preparation is our most effective tool against the unknown. Learning from past experiences allow public health professionals and first responders to develop and practice comprehensive disaster and recovery plans to ensure when the time of action is declared, public health and emergency responses are timely, efficient, and effective.
Guild Health Group believes that to build and preserve healthy communities we need informed and prepared people. Guild Health’s efforts to provide emergency planning services encompass these values and provide opportunities for our customers to plan, build, deliver, and evaluate services that will reflect the needs of their communities.
